What’s better than a chili-cheese dog, a beer, and a fight on TV on a Saturday night? It’s like a match made in HEAVEN!
But what do you have on a chili-cheese dog?
For me, you have to stack it HIGH. Not so high that you can’t eat it, but enough so that it’s just not a hot dog.
To start, you need the chili, OBVIOUSLY! Whatever your favorite chili is, fine, use that. BUT, for me, it has to be a mild chili. You can’t be burning your face off with a handheld type of food. That just has disaster written ALL OVER IT.
Then, you need the cheese. I always love using American cheese for food like this, but you can choose what fits your style. Even if you want to have a mixture of cheese, you do your thing. But just remember, it’s a CHILI CHEESE DOG! So if you don’t have melted cheese dripping onto the plate with the chili, then you don’t have enough.
The toppings though………those always differ. You can keep it how it is, or you can add the toppings that you want. For me, I go with a little bit of shredded lettuce, scallions, and some chopped onions for a nice crunch.
Finally, as you all know, you need to top off a #SnackageAfterClose with a nice cold brew. Since it’s still cold out around me, I’ll be going with a nice hearty IPA. Even though I talk alot about not filling up too much with these meals; a heavy beer has a way of warming you up during these times.
