Let me start this off by saying I am a Bears fan through and through. If you were to cut me open, you would see navy blue and orange flowing out (figuratively speaking).
But in a world where your team can be eliminated in a blink of an eye, there is always that secondary team that you have to root for. There is always that secondary team that you can turn to and say; “Hey, I’ll hop on that bandwagon.”
That team, for me, is now the New England Patriots. And if you hate me for this, then go ahead and hate me. But the fact of the matter is, this team has shown that they are without-a-doubt the GREATEST dynasty in football history. The fact of the matter is, with the great changes that they’ve had over the years, the New England Patriots still find a way to get it done.
Much of this success can be attributed to the two constants over those years; Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
Bill Belichick, for one, is without a doubt one of the GREATEST minds in football history. He came to New England in 2000 to be their head coach, and didn’t even look back; winning six championships in nine attempts since he got there. He is the EPITOME of greatness!
Not only him, but Tom Brady sure as hell had something to do with the success. The GREATEST QUARTERBACK OF ALL TIME has literally……stood the test of time. He’s 42 now, and has won his sixth championship as well. And even with a stable of receivers that change more often than your girlfriend’s mind, he still continues to find a way to succeed in this league.
But it’s not just these two that made me a fan, oh no! It’s also……the irony of it all. I’ve been betting against the Pats for YEARS! I was one of those pessimistic fans that would say; “I want them to lose because they are SO GOOD.” And during that time, my father (the Pats fan of our family) would laugh his way through EVERY SINGLE SEASON as they would prove me wrong. Time after time, Brady and Belichick would just prove me wrong, and I’m OFFICIALLY sick of it.
This year was ESPECIALLY prevalent when it came to rooting against New England. I mean, they did not look like themselves all year. I would be surprised if anyone outside of their fanbase was expecting them to make it as far as they did, let alone win the whole damn thing.
But they did! They proved the world wrong once again. And the real question that arises is; how long can they keep this dynasty going?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
