Badly Dubbed Movies & Shows Can Still Be Good Entertainment

Hi all! I know I’ve been off and on with my blogging for a while…long story, I will get to that in another post.

For now, I want to rant a little about something.

For the most part, I am not a person that likes dubbed or subtitled movies and shows. Normally, I find it hard not to be distracted by the poor dubbing, and…If I’m being honest, I find subtitles annoying. Look, if I wanted to read a story, I’d pick up a book!…

Anyway, I’m getting distracted from my main point. And that is NOT ALL badly dubbed movies or shows are bad.

Let me put it another way.

I love hearing stories from people. As I am sure most of the people on the internet are the same way…otherwise, Reddit wouldn’t be so popular!

Give me a book, a show, or a movie with a gripping story to tell and I will read/watch that stuff till my eyes dry out from not blinking.  Of course, when I come across good stories, I tell the people around me to check it out for themselves.

Most of my friends and family are like me; they can stand poorly dubbed entertainment, and a movie or show with all subtitles drives them up the proverbial wall. So for the most part, whenever I recommend something for them to watch, I tend to have it be mostly spoken in English and with limited to no subtitles.

However, I recently became a fan of a show on Netflix called The Money Heist.

This show revolves around a group of robbers and thieves who ‘knock over’ government-owned establishments while wearing red jumpsuits and Salvador Dali masks. The show is based in Spain…so as to be expected, most of the characters are speaking Spanish. Unfortunately, I bearly know English; so understanding this show in its original language was a bit out of my wheelhouse.

I turned on the English dubbing. Surprisingly, the story grabbed my attention so much I was able to ignore the out-of-synch voices and mouth movements. The voice actors they were able to get to do the English dubbing did a wonderful job and whoever casted them really knew what they were doing.

I bring this up because I shared how much of a fan I was to my family and friends and once I said it was dubbed, they stopped caring.

So, you know what?! I’m going to do what every fan of something does; turn to the internet for people who like the show!! Come on strangers!! if you know the show and you like it as much as I do, then comment below AND hit the like button!

Your fanboy!
