Four Black Cats Stared At Me Through The Window, And Now I Probably Have 182 Years Of Bad Luck

Let me set the scene for you, because this story is too odd to believe from just a title.

In my home, I typically sit at a “bar-like” table to do all of my writing. I say “bar-like” because it’s an elevated countertop with high-top chairs surrounding it. Behind me, there is a window that starts roughly four feet off of the ground that looks out onto an elevated deck. So if I’m sitting down, this window and whatever else is outside of it is basically at my eye level.

I say “whatever else is outside of it” because that is EXACTLY where these cats sat. They sat, all in a line, just staring at me from outside. Those little beady eyes were staring daggers into me, like they were looking directly into my soul.

And it wasn’t like these “demon cats” ran up to the window as I was looking out it. It wasn’t like what you see in the children’s movies, where the animals run up to the human, all of them with cartoon-like smiles on their faces.

Nope, they were just standing there. So when I got up to get a beer, I turned around and there they were.  They scared the crap out of me; so much so that I actually clenched my heart to make sure that it wasn’t about to pop out of my chest. They scared the crap out of me; so much so that I had to check my pants to make sure there wasn’t actual crap in there.

After this incident, I’m convinced that I am cursed for the rest of my life. My life is, WITHOUT A DOUBT, done from here on out. Because passing one black cat is bad; but FOUR, that’s some next level shit right there.

But what am I supposed to do if I want to get rid of this “bad luck?” Do I need to hang lucky rabbit’s feet all around my bedroom? Do I need to fill my car with bags of four-leaf clovers?

Or…….am I just screwed?
