The Bears Are Going To WASTE Another Great Defense AGAIN If They Don’t Make A Change At Quarterback

As many of you already know, I am not the biggest fan of Mitchell Trubisky. Sure, I get excited if he proves me wrong on occasion. It means that the team is doing good, and like any fan, you get pumped for that. But overall, across the three years he’s been in the Windy City, he hasn’t really done much for me at QB. In fact, he’s been rather mediocre at best.

And the sad part is, there is a STELLAR defense that is riding on Mitchell Trubisky’s performance. There is a STELLAR defense that may not be around in a few years if Ryan Pace and the Bears organization continue to put all of their chips into the “Trubisky Basket.”

According to Sportrac; Danny Trevathan, and Haha Clinton-Dix have contracts that are set to expire in 2020. Prince Amukamara, Leonard Floyd, and Eddie Jackson have contracts expiring in 2021. And in addition to that, Kyle Fuller and Akiem Hicks have deals that are set to expire in 2022.

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s seven of your key defensive players that have deals set to expire in the next couple of years. SEVEN! And this organization wants to put the fate of this crew staying together into the hands of Mitchell Trubisky?

Hell, this is EXACTLY the same situation we were in the last time this defense was good. You all remember that, right? It was when the Bears got whooped for the title against Peyton Manning and the Colts. It was when Devin Hester ran the OPENING KICKOFF of the game back for a touchdown, but the rest of the squad still couldn’t muster up enough offense to beat Indy.

And who was the quarterback that year? Rex Grossman; the EPITOME of mediocre quarterbacks. And you know what happened to that defense? They were lost to a mixture of free agency, retirement, and various other factors.

So much talent, but no championship.

Now I’m not trying to say that Mitchell Trubisky is ANYTHING like Rex Grossman. But the situation is oddly the same. Trubisky hasn’t proven to me, and hopefully to the rest of Chicago, that he is the quarterback that we need right now. Trubisky hasn’t proven to me, and HOPEFULLY to the rest of Chicago, that he is not a #2 overall pick.

But honestly, it’s not the kids’ fault. He had SO MUCH hype put on his shoulders from the media, as well as the Bears. Hell, Chicago did basically give up the HOUSE to move up one spot to get him in the draft. (I still will NEVER understand that move).

But hey, who am I to judge? I guess I’ll sit over here and watch other quarterbacks that we could of had in the draft. Quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson; guys who we wouldn’t have needed to give up ANYTHING to draft!

You all already know how I feel about Mitch; but I want to hear from you. What are YOUR thoughts on the Bears quarterback? Let me know in the comments section below, and on Twitter at @KShermanSports
